Now into the movie....

Storywise nothing to impress, since the movie is a remake of old movie, we cant expect twists and turns, but a descent story which had nothing unusual, all things predictable !!

Coming to the cast !! All fresh faces except rima and samrutha !! Hats off to Lal Jose for choosing fresh and new faces to this roles !!

All done really well !! Especially " Archana Kavi"......Done her work superbly !! Hats off... Great debut for her !! Actually the story completely revolves around her..She is the central part of the story and all others are just part of it !! She is very beautiful and very much loved by the audience !! This was proved by the overwhelming reception she got for her intro scene ---Almost equal to a superstar intro !!  She came to the screen only after 15 mins...upto that the audience (including me) were not patient enough...

Hero also done well !! Rima's character is not much powerful, but she done well !! Samrutha's small role portrayed well !!

Another highlight of the movie was it's BGM and music!! Great Comeback from Vidyasagar !! "Anuraga" song was well recieved by the audience !!!

The film's starting was really boring....but after sometime it gained momentum and was not boring!! Eventhough the story was very weak, superb direction made the movie watchable !!

+ves
------

1) ARCHANA, ARCHANA, ARCHANA

2) All fresh faces, so a refreshing feel !!

3) Lal Jose's direction !!

4) Vidyasagar's music and BGM

-ves
-----

1) Lack of good story { Wonder MT wrote this story.. }

2) Film was dragging at the beginnig

3) Lack of climax !!  The film ended quickly keeping something unfilled !!

Overall : A watchable flick for the cast and Lal jose's direction !!

Rating : 7 / 10

Vijay's "SURAA" shaping up fast !!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's prestigous 50th movie " SURAA" is shaping up fast..

Last week Ilayathalapathy Vijay shot with Tamannaah, the first song for his ambitious Golden Jubilee film Sura on a set erected by art director Vijay Murugan at AVM Studios in Chennai.

It’s peppy song tuned by Mani Sharma, and took nearly a week to be completed. The film directed by SP Rajkumar and produced by Sangili Murugan is a fast paced entertainer, based on life and times of a fisherman played by Vijay.

The buzz is that Dev Gill, the extraordinary villain of Telugu blockbuster Ram Charan Teja’s Maghadheera is playing the villain for the first time in a Tamil film. Since he is very busy in Telugu cinema, the unit of Sura is now shooting in Hyderabad, for his convenience.

The films shoot will be over by March 2010. Sura Vijay’s 50 th film will be releasing around June 22, 2010 for his birthday as a gift from the star to his innumerable fans worldwide!

KERALA CAFE Review !!

MY REVIEW ON "Kerala Cafe"

Damn good….the name KERALA CAFÉ is very suitable for d film coz all the characters are linked around a restaurant named ‘KERALA CAFÉ’ in one way or d other… the link, rather d connection of movies n characters were done efficiently by ranjith in a surprising yet different way... now my take on the movies one by one..

1.Nostalgia
Director - M.Padmakumar
Main cast:-Dileep, Navya Nair,sudheesh

This movie deals around a selfish nri business man and his family.dileep essayed the role of d business man and navya nair acted as his wife.sudheesh did the role of a hotel supplier in ‘kerala café’ who wants to get a job in dubai for taking care of his family.the 3 lead roles were good but the movie didn’t had the substance which can be conveyed in some 10 min and odd..the ending was abrupt..i felt 10 min was too short for d film and d director was helpless coz dat was d script which he got.. Rating-2.5/5

2.Island Express
Director - Shankar Ramakrishnan
main cast:-Prithviraj, Jayasurya, Rahman, Sukumari

This is the story of a writer[prithviraj] who is all set to publish the book in d memory of his friend ‘ohm’.let the theme which the book deals remain a suspense coz its somethin u all shud undeertand by watching the film.prithviraj was lookin excellent and received a big cheer when he was introduced on screen. d biggest applause was heard when he said the name ‘mangalashery neelakandan’ as one of his idols..other main casts sukumari, jayasurya, maniyanpillai raju and rahman justified their roles..the theme and direction of the movie was brilliant. My hopes on the remaining movies became very high after watchin this one.Rating:-4/5

3.Lalitham Hiranmayam
Director - Shaji Kailas
Main cast: Sureshgopi, Jyothirmayi

Let me take a deep breath before commentin on dis movie. It was easily the worst one in kerala café. Had such a nonsense theme which was not presented very well too..suresh gopi had nothing 2 do with his character given 2 him..jyothirmayi did a fair job but movie was very irritatin that I wanted it to get over as early as possible..Rating:-1.5/5

4. Mrithyumjayam
Director - Uday Ananthan
Main cast:-Fahad, Thilakan, Reema Kallingal,anoop menon,meera nandan

When I was expectin and prayin for a better movie since the previous one was bad, am disappointed 2 say ,dis one was also not dat good even tho much better than lalitham hiranmayam. Anoop menon and meera nandan are siblings .they meet in ‘kerala café’ and start discussin abt an ‘old mana ‘ Thilakan enacted d main role and reema kalinkkal was his grand daughter..he is a manthravadi who owns a mysterious mana..fahad played d role of a journalist who comes 2 take d interview of thilakan and something happens in d end which is d suspense of d film.wel this movie was included just to hav a ‘horror’ flick but it didn’t convince d theme fully..thilakan as always was good..fahad[kai ethum doorathu fame],anoop and meera were ok but reema kalinkkal was not good..direc was d weakest part indeed..Rating -2.5/5

5. Happy Journey

Director - Anjali Menon
main cast:-Jagathi Sreekumar, Nithya Menon

This movie was a perfect blend of acting and direction…I wasn’t able 2 find out who excelled over d other..hats off to anjali menon…she is a bunch of talent…this was a nice hilarious theme which extracted the acting potential of our fav jagathy chettan..an interestin yet predictable storyline was very wel presented…nithya was also too good..movie is abt jagathy an insurance employee who mets a beautiful gal durin a journey and tries hard 2 impress her.she is too smart and plays a prank on him…the perfect movie be4 the intermission… Rating -4.5/5

6. Aviramam
Director - B.Unnikrishnan
main cast:-Siddhique, Swetha Menon

B.unnikrishnan made a very likable movie about an IT professional [SIDDIQUE] who is facing d illeffects of recession..shwetha menon is his wife…aviramam had a very emotional theme..the love chemistry b/w d couples siddique and shwetha was shown very wel..siddique showed versatility in acting and shwetha menon was also good…dis movie had an ending which made me emotional…Rating 3.75/5

7.Off Season
Director - Shyamaprasad
main cast:-Suraj Venjaramood,vindhyan

I was very eager 2 watch dis movie just 2 see how the most talked abt combination of kerala café SHYAMA PRASAD-SURAJ VENJARAMUD works out..i wasn’t disappointed at all…suraaj acted a jobless guy who is ready 2 do anything 2 earn money…durin an offseason in kovalam beach he meets a portugese couple..den d real film starts which had a mixture of humorous and sentimental sequences b/w d ‘trio’…suraj used his usual tvm slang which wasn’t felt repetitive and perfect for his character…a good movie infactRating:-3.5/5

8.Bridge
Director - Anwar Rasheed main cast:-Salim Kumar, Kalpana, Shanthadevi

This was easily the best film in kerala café…infact d best film I ve seen in d recent years..all credits goes to anwar rasheed and unni.r..anwar rasheed simply rockzz..each and every frame of his was a treat 2 watch and movie was presented marvelously..salim kumar, santha devi and d child artist did their roles beautifully…the climax of the film still haunts me…am fallin short of words describin abt dis movie… dis movie is a class apartRating -5/59.

9.Makal
Director - Revathi main cast:-Sona Nair, Archana

Being a gr8 fan of Revathy [actor n director] I wanted dis movie 2 be a real spl one..but the theme of the film was not new which was portrayed on screen atleast 100 times in many other films…but the relevance of the subject makes this an imp part of kerala café..sona nair wants to adopt a gal…she adopts a girl from a remote villiage in tamil nadu..the scenes of d kid leavin d family reminded me the classic ‘akashadoodthu’. the real intention of sona nair was something else which u can understand while viewin d film..Rating:-3/5

10. Puram Kaazhchakal
Director – lal jose Main cast:-mammootty,sreenivasan

PURAM KAZHCHAKAL ,undoubtedly the most hyped film in it coz of its star cast[mammookka and sreenivasan] and presence of a super director lal jose behind d screen..movie started of slowly but ended in d most sentimental way one can imagine..like al other movies In d sec half dis one also dealt with an emotional subject…mammootty and sreenivasan were good in deir respective roles..except the side story of sreenivasan all other scenes in d movie were nice…definitely one of the better movies in d collection.. Rating:-3.75/5

A standing ovation 2 ranjith and team for coming up with such an extra ordinary idea and presentin it pretty nicely and convincingly…like all other films this one also had its positives and negatives ..but considerin d effort behind the film al the little minuses can be forgiven…watch KERALA CAFÉ for a superb and unique movie experience…OVERALL RATING FOR KERALA CAFE:-4/5…

Pazhassiraja Review

Review of latest movie PAZHASSIRAJA

Cast : Mammotty, Sarath Kumar, PadmaPriya, Manoj K Jayan, Kaniha, Thilakan, Lalu Alex, Suman etc.....
Director : Hariharan
Story, Screenplay : M T Vasudevan Nair
Music : Ilayaraja

Donno where to start. The movie seems to be too big for me.But not boring any part.

First thought after the movie was what more we can expect..as the first impression after the movie was expecting more because of huge expectations..then this counter thought came..
Only 1,2 points I got it was not a solo burst from mammooty as I expected like OVVG. The answer also I got this is movie on huge canvas and a team effort..Apart from mammooty (leave him alone as he has provided us or seen very much more) Sarath kumar --> Best movie of him on his entire career. Padmapriya --> one of the best in her career. Manoj K jayan --> Same it shows the value of team effort.. Hariharan did a very difficult job convincingly..

The Excellent things for me was

Rassool..He rocked with the sound of rain, boots, sword etc etc..

Ilayaraja --> BGM was royal Camera --> The scens with rain and war were shoot very well Padmapriya --> Waht a performance..also her dubbing rocked to core.
Mammotty --> Though he have less to perform if we take OVVG he has done it excellently..The last 30 min of second half he really rocked.

Sarath kumar--> Well done. really looked like a warrior

Last but not least the legend MT. Though he was not upto mark in the begining of the movie rocked in second half. I really liked the songs picturisation..When I watched songs alone it was not 100% convincing for me..but all songs blended with movie very well..The best thing was no masala's added to boost the star values..

Audience response--> I saw lot of aged or middle aged views for first day. It was quite surprising. And was enjoying the movie...

Bottom line..U will not feel 100 % satisfied since we will think they can deliver more..But the truth is for this subject this the max..
